History of the Amalric Grotto

The Amalric Grotto came into existence so that the prophets from the Northwest Arkansas area could meet on a regular basis.  Many of our members are also plural, or dual, members with the Bendemeer Grotto in Maumelle, Arkansas.

After one of the famous Bendemeer Steak Dinners, the Junior Past Grand Monarch approached several of our prophets and inquired as to when they would like to start a Grotto in the Northwest Arkansas area.  After many laughs and jokes about how difficult this would be, several of the prophets got together and started the planning process.

A general meeting was held to discuss the formation of the new Grotto, the by-laws were drafted and, thanks to the assistance of several Grand Line Officers, the process of applying for a Grotto was started.

Springdale Lodge No. 316 graciously agreed to host Amalric and the ball was off and rolling (quickly). The Amalric Grotto received its dispensation from the Supreme Grottoes of North America in May 2009 and our newly installed and elected officers, Monarch Patrick Carr, Chief Justice Don Martin and Master of Ceremonies Jarrod Adkisson traveled to the Grand Session in June 2009 to receive the Charter.

From concept to charter, the Amalric Grotto came into being in a matter of only five months and is continuing its growth and planning in the Northwest Arkansas area.
